The Illustrious Official College of Physicians of Alicante (COMA) has initiated the official rollout of EReceta Delonia as the solution for its members for private electronic prescriptions certified by the OMC.

With this decision, the institution technologically modernizes the professional practice of its 9,837 members, joining the strategy initiated by the Official College of Physicians of Valencia (ICOMV), which has had EReceta Delonia as its private electronic prescription solution since 2024. With this initiative, the Valencian Community places itself at the forefront of digital healthcare in Spain, securing the management of its private prescriptions with a homogeneous and secure tool that consolidaste it as a national benchmark.

1. Private Healthcare in the Valencian Community: A Strategic Pillar

To understand the importance of this launch, it is necessary to look at the regional healthcare map. The Valencian Community has established itself as a national benchmark, where private healthcare already represents 31.4% of total healthcare spending.

This sector is not merely a complement, but an essential engine that provides:

  • Critical infrastructure: the region has 23 private hospitals (37% of the total number of hospital centers), which manage 31% of all surgical interventions and 25% of all emergency cases in the community.
  • Cutting-edge technology: Valencian private healthcare leads in high-complexity equipment, concentrating 67% of gamma cameras and 45% of MRI scanners across the entire autonomous region.
  • Coexistence model: in a context of high healthcare pressure, public-private collaboration and the growth of health insurance (which now exceeds one million people in the region) demand digital solutions that unify criteria and guarantee patient safety.

2. Key Benefits of Delonia’s Private E-Prescription System for Medical Professionals in Alicante

This solution, approved by the CGCOM, aims to offer a paperless platform that streamlines clinical practice. The private digital prescription provides several advantages to the Association:

  1. Simplified user experience: streamlined access, medical digital signature, and two-factor authentication designed to avoid delays during consultations.
  2. Complete flexibility in prescribing: includes “favorite treatments,” clinical protocols, and automation for controlled substances.
  3. Advanced patient safety: integration with Vidal Vademécum provides high-level alerts that guarantee maximum patient protection and optimize the physician’s consultation time.
  4. Dispensing optimization: intelligent expiration management and delivery of the code to the patient through multiple channels for digital dispensing at any pharmacy nationwide.
  5. Integration with mutual insurance companies: connection with MUFACE and ISFAS hubs for prescribing to mutual insurance members.

3. Alicante and the Costa Blanca: An international health ecosystem

Within this framework, Alicante stands out as a strategic epicenter of private healthcare in Europe. With an insurance rate of 25% —the highest in the region—, the province has established itself as the preferred destination for thousands of health tourists and foreign residents. Given this high-mobility scenario, the EReceta Delonia private electronic prescription is positioned as a strategic tool capable of:

  • Without physical barriers: International patients receive their prescriptions on their devices, facilitating the continuity of their treatments without relying on paper.
  • Total connectivity: being valid in any pharmacy in Spain, it eliminates lost documents and legibility issues, which is vital for the transient population of the Costa Blanca.

4. The COMA: cutting edge and commitment to care

Under the presidency of Dr. Hermann Schwarz, the Official College of Physicians of Alicante combines clinical excellence with an active defense of the profession against challenges such as the saturation of primary care or professional practicing without a license. With a constantly renewing and increasingly younger membership, the COMA projects its vision for the future from its emblematic headquarters on Avenida de Denia.

By integrating EReceta Delonia, the Association not only manages a profession but also humanizes technology to support the physician’s work and protect the health of the entire Alicante community.
