The biennial European Captive Forum (ECF) 2025 in Luxembourg was a massive success, marked by a record turnout (over 1,000 participants vs 700 in 2023!). Delonia Software co-founder José María Corsino and I attended, observing the overarching trend among industry professionals. During the Welcome Address the message was clear: We are still firmly in the “golden age of captives.” This period of heightened relevance, driven by geopolitical uncertainty, market volatility, and hard commercial pricing, confirms that captives are essential strategic pillars, offering the stability, flexibility, and innovative risk financing solutions our clients demand.
A Golden Age for AI, too
A significant highlight of the forum was the robust discussion around Artificial Intelligence, where our company played an active role in the dialogue. Our co-founder, José María Corsino, was a key participant in two insightful sessions focused on AI, including the session titled “AI and Global Benefits: Creating Clarity, Strategic Insights, and Equality Across all Regions.” This panel , which included leaders from Generali EB, Euphoric, Mercer, and DHL, offered a deep dive into AI’s application in Employee Benefits (EB).

The primary takeaway from these discussions was clear: The technology is ready, and the time for implementation is now. Unlike two years ago, AI is mature enough to move beyond theoretical discussions and into practical, value-driving applications.
On a Personal Level
Beyond the sessions, the event continues to be a great personal experience. It was a real pleasure to reconnect with contacts I first met two years ago and to catch up, while also making valuable new connections this time around.

During the panel discussion on AI and its use in Global Benefits, participants included (from right to left): José María Corsino, co-founder of Delonia Software; Matthias Helmbold from DHL; Barry Perkins of Mercer; Max Landry representing Euphoric; and Daniela Masters from Generali Employee Benefits.
It was lovely being back in Luxembourg. The city continues to amaze, even more this year since the weather was sunnier than expected! I’m already looking forward to 2027.
